Vertigo

Dizziness has become one of the most common health problems today. Due to rapidly changing conditions of modern life, stress, postural disorders, and the impact of technology, balance disorders and vertigo (dizziness) are seen more frequently.

What Is Vertigo?

Vertigo is a condition that causes a person to feel as if their surroundings are spinning or to experience dizziness. Although it is usually related to the inner ear, it may also be a symptom of different health problems.

Symptoms Of Vertigo

Vertigo may not be limited to dizziness alone; it can occur together with various symptoms that affect daily life:

  • Dizziness
  • A feeling of imbalance
  • Nausea
  • Lightheadedness
  • Difficulty with slow movements

Causes Of Vertigo

More than one factor may play a role in the onset of vertigo. Both inner ear-related problems and conditions originating from the brain, muscles, or stress may trigger vertigo symptoms. The main causes include:

  • Inner ear infections
  • Problems with the eardrum
  • Brain-related disorders
  • High stress and anxiety
  • Tension in the neck muscles

Vertigo Treatment Methods

  • Drug therapy: Depending on the physician’s evaluation, medications may be prescribed to help reduce vertigo complaints.
  • Physical therapy: Balance exercises and rehabilitation methods may provide relief in some patients.
  • Lifestyle adjustments: Stress management, regular exercise, and adequate sleep may contribute to reducing vertigo complaints.

Vertigo is often a manageable condition; however, each individual’s clinical picture is different. In ongoing complaints of dizziness, it is important to consult a specialist for accurate diagnosis and evaluation.
