What is Revision Rhinoplasty?

Hello, revision rhinoplasty is a procedure performed on patients who have previously undergone a nose aesthetic surgery, but have not been satisfied with the visual or functional results. This surgery is performed to address the dissatisfaction and achieve a new aesthetic result.

Why is Revision Rhinoplasty Done?

Revision rhinoplasty is needed when a patient is not satisfied with the shape of their nose or if, for any reason, they are experiencing unsatisfactory breathing after the first surgery.

When Can a Patient Undergo Revision Rhinoplasty?

Various schools of thought exist, but typically, a minimum of 11 to 12 months should be waited before considering revision rhinoplasty. During this time, the cartilage, bone, and especially the skin structure of the nose undergo repair, making the patient suitable for a second corrective surgery.

What Should Be Considered in Revision Rhinoplasty?

In revision rhinoplasty, it is especially important that the surgery is performed by an experienced surgeon using the necessary technologies. In our revision surgeries, we pay special attention to understanding what the patient desires for their nose, thoroughly examining the patient, discussing in detail, and even using Photoshop programs to visualize the changes. We then make the decision with the patient's approval.

What Are the Key Considerations in Revision Rhinoplasty?

Since the patient has already undergone a previous surgery, new cartilage may need to be obtained. In our practice, we typically use cartilage from the rib, as it is stronger and more reliable than ear cartilage. We use rib cartilage for the reconstruction of the nose.
