Of course, I was born in Istanbul in 1969. I attended primary and secondary school in Bakırköy, and I graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. I completed my specialization in otolaryngology at the Faculty of Medicine, and currently, I am the Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Istanbul Yeni University Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital.

Doctor, otolaryngology is a quite broad field in healthcare. What services do you provide in this area?
First of all, I am an otolaryngologist. We evaluate and treat all diseases related to the ear, nose, and throat. However, my special interest is in nasal and facial aesthetics. We perform rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, facelift, and neck and facial rejuvenation surgeries.

Doctor, the shape of the nose is quite important to us. How does rhinoplasty provide the ideal nose shape?
The shape of the nose varies depending on gender, and it must be natural. We try to create natural-looking noses based on certain angles and proportions.

Is rhinoplasty performed only for aesthetic reasons, or are interventions also made for health issues?
In addition to aesthetics, there are health-related issues as well, such as a deviated septum, nasal bone curvature, and difficulty breathing. Also, according to the World Health Organization's definition of health, both physical and mental health are considered together. Even if there is no functional issue, if a person feels psychologically bad with an unattractive nose, surgery can be performed for their mental well-being.

Doctor, sometimes problems arise after surgery, or patients may be dissatisfied. Revision procedures are performed in such cases. Rhinoplasty is a common surgery, but there may still be issues. What are the main problems that arise, or do we face any issues?
After rhinoplasty surgery, of course, we may encounter certain problems, as with any surgery. The main problems include breathing difficulties or unsatisfactory results that the patient does not like. We address these issues using years of experience and advances in technology.

Is this surgery more complex compared to other surgeries?
Every surgery has its own set of complexities. One must know the anatomy of the area well, understand what the patient desires, and have sufficient professional expertise. For us, choosing the right surgery for rhinoplasty is very important.

Is it important to choose the right surgeon?
Absolutely, as in any profession, it is essential to choose the expert, trust their experience, and be aware of the technology they use.

Doctor, once the patient has had the surgery, the recovery process continues successfully. How do you proceed with the follow-up process, and what should patients pay attention to?
After the surgery, we monitor the patient for one night in the hospital. There may be some pain, and we apply ice to reduce swelling. Afterward, we call the patient back for routine checks after three days and again after seven days to remove the internal tampon and external protective covering. After that, we follow up once a month for six to seven months, as it takes a minimum of six months for the nose and cartilage structure to fully settle and heal.

When can patients return to their daily life?
With the advanced technology we use, we perform surgery with minimal trauma to the tissues and through microsurgery, so the healing process is faster, with less swelling and bruising. Patients can return to office work or light activities a week after surgery, but strenuous physical activities should be avoided for the first week.

Doctor, we receive a high demand from abroad. What services do you provide for international patients?
We work with private companies and handle transportation for the patients. We do not face any language problems, as we have experts who speak the patient's native language. Additionally, we are accessible. We perform surgeries at high-standard hospitals and ensure patients are sent back to their countries in the shortest time possible.

How do you follow up with patients after they return to their home countries?
We recommend that patients stay in Istanbul for at least five or six days after surgery. Then, they can stay in contact with us through video conferences, and we provide ongoing follow-up at regular intervals. Whenever they want to come to Istanbul for a check-up, we welcome them.

Doctor, why do patients choose you, and why should new patients choose you?
First of all, thank you for this question. The answer to this question is best given by our patients, but from my observations, I would say:
We have a certain level of professional experience. I have been an ENT specialist for 25 years, and I have an academic career in this field. Second, we are accessible to our patients. Third, we perform surgeries in high-standard, fully equipped hospitals using the latest technology.
